VFL star Brauman confirms Bell Park as new interchange club

Reigning Bannockburn best and fairest Jack Brauman has confirmed he will be returning to his former GFL club Bell Park in season 2018 under the advice of his new mentors.

The announcement comes two weeks after the Tiger was granted a spot on Werribee’s VFL list where he has since been training this pre-season.

“The Werribee coaching staff preferred to have me at Bell Park but in saying that it was very tough leaving Bannockburn,” Brauman revealed this evening.

Since making his GDFL senior debut in 2012 the dynamic midfielder has gone onto play 104 games for the Tigers and has proven to be one of the elite ball winners in the league.

After claiming his first of three senior best and fairest awards at the age of 18, Brauman would go onto be Bannockburn’s co-captain from 2014-16 alongside club legend Brad Watts.

A regular GDFL interleague representative and team of the year member, the tight lipped 22-year-old admits he still has the desire to bring his footy to a higher state level standard.

“Werribee has been awesome, everyone around the club has been very welcoming and to be honest they’re a really tight bunch of blokes,” Brauman said.

This season will mark only the second time Brauman will not be representing the Tigers since Auskick level.

His other absence was at under-16 level at Bell Park where he found 32 goals across 17 junior games as a midfielder in 2011.

Though he hasn’t trained at Bell Park since, the former GDFL star has confirmed Bell Park as his interchange club under second year coach Luke Rayner (former Winchelsea coach from 2015-16).

“I do not want to say that this is a goodbye to Bannockburn, I’ll be back there one day and I really want to see them do well this year,” Brauman added.

Brauman will be joined on the departure list by Jake Peters who played 55 of a possible 60 games for the Tigers from 2015-17.
