GDFNL names extended interleague squad
The GDFNL has released its extended squad for this year’s 25&U interleague clash, to be held on Saturday, June 6 at Winchelsea’s Eastern Reserve.
For the second straight year the Raiders will take on the CDFNL, aiming for back-to-back victories after prevailing 11.13 (79) to 10.12 (72) in 2025.
Thomson premiership coach Paul Lynch will again lead the side with Bannockburn senior coach Ronnie Pilgrim returning as his assistant coach.
A total of 15 players from last year’s squad have been named in the initial 41-man group including key talls Oscar Barter (Anakie) and Rhys Ginn (Bannockburn), Belmont Lions duo Ben McPherson and Michael Murdoch, East Geelong brothers Austin and Ben Mulvahil, Winchelsea pair Lachie Gemmill and Cameron Primmer and 2024 Wayne Tyquin medallist Carmelo Saliba (Werribee Centrals).
All 12 GDFNL clubs are represented in this year’s squad. Winchelsea leads the way with six nominees while Thomson, Bannockburn and reigning premier North Geelong have five players selected apiece.
