Round 13 A Grade Previews
Round 13 is here and with only six rounds remaining in the GDFNL 2026 netball season, the competition is getting intense.
A huge matchup comes this round between Winchelsea and Belmont as both teams are fighting to solidify their place in finals.
Winchelsea currently sits at fourth on the ladder whilst Belmont are just below them at fifth place with just one less win for the season.
“The girls keep putting out each week and they’re doing really well but we can’t afford to be dropping any games,” two-time Margaret Webb medallist and Belmont premiership co-captain Molly Gribble said.
The last time these two sides met was in Round 2 where Winchelsea just came out on top by four goals against the reigning premiers in Belmont.
“Across the whole court both teams were pretty even, but I think since then we’ve developed a lot as a team,” 2025 Justine Radford medallist and Belmont premiership player Ella Wasik said.

Both Belmont and Winchelsea will be approaching this round with confidence after their strong wins last weekend, so this game is sure to be a competitive one.
Bell Post Hill will meet Anakie with confidence this round after their massive 57 goal win over the Giants last weekend.
Anakie have only won two games for the season but will be eager to challenge Bell Post Hill after a tough loss against Belmont in Round 12.
As the only team to have drawn twice this season, Bell Post Hill are sitting at seventh on the ladder whilst Anakie have been stuck at tenth place for most of the season.
During their first meeting in Round 2, Bell Post Hill came away with the win over Anakie by 20 goals so it will be interesting to see how these two teams perform this weekend.

Up next in Round 13 is Corio and Inverleigh, two teams who had disappointing losses last round and will be looking for redemption this weekend.
Corio sit at eighth on the ladder after a narrow loss to East Geelong last week whilst Inverleigh are only just in second place by percentage after their 11-goal loss to Thomson.
Although Inverleigh have double the wins of Corio this season, Corio has the chance to shake up Inverleigh’s chance at finals since they have equal points with East Geelong and Winchelsea.
Since Inverleigh has an equal 38 points with East Geelong and Winchelsea, Corio has the chance this round to shake up Inverleigh’s position in the competition leading up to finals.
Thomson will come up against North Geelong this round hoping to secure another strong win like they did in Round 2, when the Tigers defeated the Magpies 62-35.
Thomson are sitting at sixth on the ladder with only six more games remaining in the season, so they will be desperate to secure a strong win for a chance at finals.
To close out Round 13 of A grade netball, the Werribee Centrals will take on the competition leaders in Bannockburn who sit comfortably in first place with 44 points for the season.
On the Sunday afternoon, East Geelong who sit in third place will line up against the winless Geelong West Giants.
The Eagles prevailed 63-13 when they last met in Round 2.

With only six rounds to go until finals, these last few rounds are more important than ever as the competition continues to be so close, particularly between the top six sides.
