After a round full of upsets last weekend, Round 15 of the 2026 GDFNL A Grade netball competition is stacked with matchups that will make or break some finals hopes.
The Geelong West Giants will come up against the confident and skilled Corio after their unexpected win against Thomson last round.
Whilst the Giants are yet to take home a win this season, Corio have been competitive throughout despite just falling short in a few close games.
“I’ve said all along that if the team brings their best netball, we could honestly beat most of the top teams,” Corio A grade and B grade coach Steph Cockerell said.
Looking for their second consecutive win of the season, Corio won’t be holding back against the Giants as they push to finish the season with more wins under their belt.
“We have nothing to lose, we have the potential and we can do all these things,” Athlete’s Foot MVP leader and star Corio A grade goaler Sarah Kasparian said.
With finals just around the corner, East Geelong will take on Winchelsea in round 15 with only four points separating two of the competitions strongest teams.
The last time these two teams met was in Round 4 when Winchelsea was able to defeat East Geelong by just three goals despite being down for most of the game.
Both Winchelsea and East Geelong secured strong wins last round and will be hoping for another win before they both prepare to meet with the top two teams in Round 16.
If East Geelong win, they will uphold their position in third on the ladder but if Winchelsea win, they have the chance to take East Geelong’s place with only four rounds to go.
Another interesting matchup that will take place in Round 15 is between Werribee Centrals and Thomson.
Both Werribee Centrals and Thomson had shocking losses last round as Centrals lost by a goal to North Geelong whilst Thomson was defeated by Corio.
Thomson currently sits just outside of the top five in sixth place so a win against Werribee Centrals is crucial to ensure that they have a chance to compete in finals.
Belmont and North Geelong will be entering Round 15 on a high after both teams had incredible wins in Round 14.
Whilst Belmont defeated Bannockburn who sit on top of the ladder, North Geelong had a one goal victory over the Werribee Centrals and will be looking to replicate that this round.
Congratulations to Marli Pymer who will make her A Grade debut for Belmont Lions after serving as A Grade team manager since Round 1, 2025.
To close out Round 15, Anakie will line up against a well performing Inverleigh side as Bell Post Hill prepare to take on Bannockburn who lead the competition with 12 wins for the season.
