Four-time club best and fairest Michael Leamer believes his side is ready for battle when the Giants play host to Bell Post Hill.

Joined by his son Jack and daughter Darci on GDFNL Media, Leamer believes his side has a good mix of youth and experience.

"We are going to go into this one very confident because we have a strong backline and a very strong forward line," Leamer explained.

Geelong West netball coordinator also believes that Round 1 will be a great test for the club's netball section.

Approximately 300 supporters were in attendance for the club's season launch where the club acknowledged its former entities Geelong West Roosters, Geelong West Cheetahs and St Peters.

"Football in Geelong West has gone through all of these terrible periods and now you have every club that was dominant in those days come together to save the history of football in Geelong West," former Geelong West mayor Kevin Kirby said.

"It makes me very happy, sitting on my little scooter here, that we haven't been knocked off like a lot of the other clubs."
