After months of historical research, just ONE photograph remains missing from our collection of past GDFL presidents.
We thank Nick from the Geelong Heritage Centre for his assistance as well as June Harding for providing photos of her father Les "Guv" Smith, our league's third longest serving president after Neville Whitley OAM and Eric "Jock" McKenzie.
Elbertus “Bert” Herni (6 February 1948 – 21 September 2017) served as president of the Lara Football Club in 1978 before becoming GDFL president in 1979 after the breakaway of the GFL competiton.
We're calling on the Lara football community, former players, officials and the Herni family to help us locate a photograph of Bert and complete this important piece of local football history.
