Round 11 A Grade Previews
With just eight rounds remaining in the 2026 GDFNL netball competition, Round 11 is full of season shaping match-ups.
The most anticipated game of the round is between Bannockburn and Thomson who have both had successful seasons so far, sitting at second and fifth on the ladder respectively.
Thomson will be hungry for a win after their loss to East Geelong last week, hoping to secure a win in honour of their coach, Shannyn Leach, who celebrates her 200 games this round.
“I’ve really enjoyed coaching A Grade and seeing them achieve what they can, especially over the last few years,” Leach reflected.
Bannockburn will be approaching round eleven with confidence after defeating Winchelsea by one goal last week, hoping to regain first place on the ladder.
“Bannockburn have got some really good structures and they’re playing some really great netball, so I expect it to be a tough game,” Leach said.
Both Bannockburn and Thomson have a lot to play for this round, and the result could be make or break for both teams in a competitive season thus far.
Another exciting match up in round eleven is between Inverleigh and East Geelong, who are both sitting in the top four after round ten.
Inverleigh is currently first on the ladder, having suffered only one loss against Thomson in Round 1.
East Geelong is sitting comfortably at third but have the upper hand since defeating Thomson by 16 goals in Round 10.
With an intense season on their hands, it is up to Inverleigh and East Geelong to determine who will solidify their top four position and who may crumble under the pressure.
Up next is Anakie who will face the Werribee Centrals who share an equal amount of wins and losses for the season.
After coming off an impressive 49-point-win over the Geelong West Giants last week, the Werribee Centrals will be looking for back-to-back wins.
Anakie were also able to secure a hard fought win last week over North Geelong, so both of these sides will be eager to battle it out on the netball court for consecutive wins.
Corio will take on Bell Post Hill this round after both teams were defeated by a significant amount of goals last round.
With only two points separating them on the ladder, the matchup between Corio and Bell Post Hill is sure to be competitive.
To close out Round 11, the winless Geelong West Giants will face Belmont, whilst Winchelsea will come up against North Geelong who only have one win for the season.
